Gorging Gastropods

Dear Gardeners, played by Gastropods,

Would you defeat the little sods,

Grow you a bed of Garlic-Mustard* –

Its glorious pong soon as them flustered!

Your plants, in this GM’s embraces

Wreathed, and sunned on by its faces,

The Gastropods won’t bother you –

While joys gastric await you, too!

For daily salads to embellish,

Garlic-mustard gives rare relish –

Chop the leaves to your delight,

A bounty both for scent and sight!

Perennial and evergreen,

With Dandelion a matching queen –

Such health and wealth of daily salad

Should well inspire a worthy ballad!

And those now gastricked Gastropods?

Why, let us bless the little sods!

* Alliaria petiolata or Jack-by-the-hedge.
